Have you seen this tree? If you live in the Pacific Northwest and visit Shore Acres National Park, you would walk by this tree overlooking the ocean. It is weathered and molded by the strong pacific oceanic winds. This tree looks different every time I see it. I've painted it before but every time I hike past this tree, it gives off a different feeling depending on the time of day and the weather. I painted it after a hike and wanted to capture its personality on that particular day. I love the lavender colors in this painting and deep purple colors in the shadows. I especially love how the roots stick up from the surrounding environment and you can see right through them.
I wish I could keep all my paintings, but I am running out of room. I foresee many versions of this tree. And I love to share.
This painting is on a canvas panel, framed in a barn wood-like frame that I hand-washed with white paint to pick up the highlights in the waves.
This painting is located at the Art by the Sea Gallery in Bandon, OR.
