BARGUE DRAWING SUPPLIES

Drawing Board
(required)
A collapsable drawing board that can lay flat to carry to class, but can stand almost upright.
I have an extra board if you want to use it, or purchase it. A 22-24" wide board is ideal.

Strathmore Drawing Paper
(required)
You can start off with 9x12". For larger drawings you will want 11x14". This paper is smooth with enough texture to work well for drawing details.

Ruler Set
(required)
You will need each of these rulers. Being able to see through the ruler is important.

Acid Free Artist Tape
(required)
This is a low tack masking tape to adhere plates and drawing paper onto board. Washi tape also works. I prefer a light tape color so it is less distracting.

Helix Erasers
(required)
These are the best, cleanest erasers I have found so far. You will want these for larger areas. The shape is very helpful too.

Makeup Brush Set
(required)
Any set of very soft brushes. Makeup brushes are ideal and very affordable. This is a wide range. You will discover your favorites.

Royal & Langnickel Series 4200 Mini-Majestic Brushes 10/0 Filbert
I like this brush for softening lines. It has a stiffness, but softness to the tip.

Graphite Pencil Set - Small
This is the smaller set of Tombow pencils. I like these because they are so smooth and blend beautifully. This smaller set is good if you are going to purchase darker pencils and will use a smaller range of these.

Graphite Pencils - Large
Other pencils sets are fine, but these Tombow Mono pencils are my favorite drawing pencils.

Tombow Erasers
(required)
These two erasers are used essentially to remove graphite in very small areas. They become drawing tools. Great for highlights as well.

Blending Stumps
(required)
These are the dense stumps, not the rolled ones. This kit also comes with a pencil extender and kneaded eraser. You only need a couple sizes of these. But this is a good price for all included.

Kneaded Eraser
(required)
This is a moldable eraser. Can be used in many ways and is essential.

Long Point Pencil Sharpener
This gives a longer point on your pencils allowing you to draw for a longer period between sharpening. Also comes in battery version. You can also sharpen your pencils with a razor to get a long point.

Value Card
This is helpful in judging if your values are correct. You compare it to your plate, then to your drawing.

Staedtler Mars Lumograph Black Carbon Pencil Set
This set allows you to get very dark values without the shine of graphite. You can try the two brands I have to see what you like.

Faber Castell Pitt Graphite Matt Pencil Set
These pencils will also give you dark values without the shine. They are similar to the Staedtler Lumograph Black Carbon.

T-Square Straight Edge
This is a very helpful tool. I recommend the 20" as it will go past both sheets of paper. It will help you draw boxes and can help check your accuracy.

Posca Fine Point Marker White
Fine tip Marker in white.
This is used for later drawings when you need to see points. Or can be used to highlight.

Nitram Charcoal
I trained with "General's" Charcoal pencils, but these are beautiful. They are more traditional for Bargue. They can be sharpened to a very long and sharp point. These are for student's wanting to use charcoal for class.
