I love people and animals and really enjoy capturing their personality.  It is special to have a one-of-a-kind, custom painting or drawing.  It is personal and makes a great gift as well.  I enjoy creating custom, personal art that has meaning and a connection for you or your loved one.

How do I get started?

1.  First, submit the form for a no-obligation "schedule a call" commission request.  

2.  Next, we will schedule a phone call or video conference to discuss your ideas.

3.  Then, when you are ready, you will put down a 50% deposit to secure your booking and the process begins!  The final 50% is due after completion and receipt of the item or shipping of the item.

I like to connect with my collector and get good reference photos and make notes.  After the details are agreed upon in writing via email, I will begin the final painting or portrait in my studio. ​

How long does a commission take?

Timing will very from project to project.  For oil paintings and pencil portraits, research is part of the process.  I develop composition options while looking through your photos.  I may create a color study for your consideration.  I like to involve you in the design process to make sure this creation will look its best in the space it will live in.  We will go over type of paper or canvas and suggestions on how to frame.  

 

Both oil painting and pencil portraits take several weeks to create, depending on where you are on the list of commissions. Oil paintings need to cure and be varnished. This takes additional time and is well worth it.  Please be patient with this required process.  I try to accommodate timelines as much as possible.

If you are in a time sensitive situation, I suggest a pencil portrait as it does not need to dry.​

Why do custom commissions cost more?

There are advantages:  It is customized for you!  You pick the subject, custom size, and your custom colors, but painted or drawn in my style. You will get to be part of my creative process.  I enjoy working with collectors.
